Just tried two different screen protectors for my new phone and the difference is huge

I bought a cheap pack of three from a gas station for about $8 and a single one from a phone shop for $25. The cheap one went on with bubbles I could not get out and felt sticky under my thumb. The good one went on clean in one try and feels just like the glass screen. Has anyone else had this happen with a specific brand they trust?

Wait, you paid twenty five dollars for just one screen protector? That's wild to me! I get that it works better, but that price is a huge jump from the gas station ones. I guess the coating tech keith mentioned really does cost a lot to make. It makes sense now why the cheap ones feel so terrible.

Oh man, you just described the exact trap. People see a screen protector as this simple piece of plastic or glass, so they grab the cheap one. But the adhesive layer and the oleophobic coating, that stuff that keeps it from feeling sticky and smudgy, is where the real cost is. That cheap one probably has awful adhesive that grabs dust and creates bubbles, and no coating so it feels gross. You're not just paying for the material, you're paying for the tech that makes it disappear on your phone.

Yeah, I read that the coating is what makes the pricier ones feel like real glass.
