I think the new smartwatch battery life hype is totally wrong. Mine died halfway through a hike in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Forget the smartwatch, just bring a sundial next time lol. My friend's watch died so fast we had to use the actual sun to tell time. The battery hype is just marketing guys trying to sell you a fancy paperweight.

Using the actual sun" is killing me lol. Next they'll tell us to navigate by moss on trees. Guess my watch is just a really expensive step counter that dies at the worst time.

Been there, with a dead screen and ten miles left to go. The advertised battery life is always for the most basic settings, not real use with GPS tracking. I turn off the always-on display and heart rate monitoring before any long trip. Even then, I bring a small backup battery pack. It's the only way to be sure it makes it back to the car.
