Wax finish on my dresser turned out better than I hoped.
I tried a wax finish for the first time on an old dresser. It took a few layers and buffing, but the sheen is perfect now. How do you usually apply wax to get a consistent look?

Wax is honestly a huge pain for furniture. That stuff never really dries right and attracts every speck of dust. A simple polyurethane wipe-on would look just as good without all the buffing. You'll be redoing that wax in a year when it gets dull and gummy. Seems like way more work for a worse result long term.

My cousin tried waxing his guitar once. Said it sounded warmer for about a week before it started collecting lint like a sweater. Now he just uses lemon oil, less shine but no fuzzy finishes.

What did you use for buffing it out? I get where Parker's coming from about upkeep, but for me that worn in look over time is part of the charm. A film finish like poly never really changes, but wax gets this soft glow you can't fake. That stuff just feels different, warm and real, not plastic.
