TIL a $20 tack cloth beats the heck out of a shop rag for pre-stain prep.
I was finishing a maple table and wiped it down with a clean rag before applying stain. Got a ton of tiny fibers stuck in the grain. Grabbed a tack cloth for the second coat and it was perfectly clean, no fuzz at all. Anyone have a favorite brand that doesn't dry out so fast?

Oh man, that's the worst. I've had luck keeping tack cloths in a mason jar with the lid on tight. The real trick is to not buy the ones from the big box store, they're garbage. Find a local paint supplier, their stuff lasts way longer.

Totally agree, those things are useless.
