Serious question, has anyone else had a shellac pad stick and tear on a hot day?
I was finishing a table in my garage last July, and the humidity made my french polish pad grab and rip right on the surface. I had to stop, let it dry, and gently sand the spot with 400 grit before starting that section over. What's your go-to fix for a sticky pad?

Ugh, I just use a drop of linseed oil.

My buddy had that exact thing happen on a humid afternoon. He was working on a guitar body and the pad just welded itself to the finish. His quick fix was to dab a tiny bit of mineral oil on the pad's bottom before the next coat, which helped it slide. He still had to sand out the tear mark though, just like you did. It's such a frustrating setback when you're in the zone. What kind of oil do you keep on hand for your finish work?
