My client in Phoenix paid me a 50% deposit before I even sent the invoice.

I just mentioned the project start date over a call, and they insisted on sending half up front. Who expects that kind of trust anymore? Has a client ever surprised you by handling the money part better than you did?

That's honestly amazing. A fifty percent deposit without even seeing the paperwork first? That level of trust is almost unheard of these days. It really makes you appreciate the good clients out there.

So what kind of work was it for? I'm just curious because a deposit that big usually means a huge job or a really long timeline. It's a huge sign of respect when someone trusts you like that right out of the gate.

Honestly, that would make me nervous. A deposit that big before an invoice feels off. It could be a sign they're trying to lock you into terms you haven't even agreed to yet. I'd worry about setting clear rules for the other half and the final payment. Sometimes a client being too eager with money is its own red flag.
