Noticed my shift mate can't hear orders over the furnace noise
He's been forgetting his ear muffs lately because they pinch his head. Now he's missing crucial shouts from the foreman and it's getting dangerous. Any tips for ear gear that doesn't hurt after a few hours?

Try custom molded ear plugs. SERIOUSLY, they fix the pinch problem and block noise better. Most safety shops can make them onsite, it takes minutes. They mold to your ears so no pressure points. Yeah, they cost more upfront but prevent missed shouts and accidents. Your buddy needs to prioritize comfort or he'll keep risking his safety.

That bit about "prioritize comfort or he'll keep risking his safety" is everywhere. People will put up with a bad tool or a sore back for years instead of just fixing the small thing.

Lee's spot on with the custom mold. They get so comfortable you stop feeling them, which is the whole point. Just hope he remembers he's got them in before he tries to answer his phone.
