Can we talk about the switch from hand ramming to a pneumatic vibrator for core boxes?
For the first five years at the shop, I always packed core sand by hand with a wooden rammer, which took forever on a big job. My boss finally brought in a small pneumatic vibrator table about three months ago, and it cut our time in half on a 12-core engine block order. Has anyone else made this switch and noticed any downsides, like the sand mix needing to be a bit wetter to hold?

Read an article about that switch. @west.henry is right about the mix needing a bit more moisture, our guys noticed the same thing on the first try.

Oh man, total game changer. We had to tweak the sand mix a little wetter at first, but the time saved is insane.
