That one customer who wanted a 'full' bouquet for $25...
A lady came in yesterday asking for a big, mixed bouquet for her mom. I showed her some nice options starting at $65, and she just stared at me. She said, 'My grocery store does them for twenty-five bucks.' I explained the difference in flower quality, care, and design time for about five minutes. She left in a huff, saying it was a rip-off. It just gets to me... we're not selling a product, we're selling a skill. Has anyone found a good way to explain our value without sounding defensive?

Honestly, get where you're coming from but @claire_walker is it that deep? Some people just have a totally different budget in mind and won't get it no matter how you explain. You can't win them all, just let them walk and focus on the customers who do value your work.

Wait, she wanted a FULL bouquet for twenty-five dollars? That's less than a cheap takeout meal! I can't even get a decent bunch of tulips at the store for that price.

Seriously though, what kind of flowers was she even expecting for that price? You can't get quality stems for that little. It just shows they don't understand the work that goes into it.
