Tbh I just lost about $200 on a bad batch of floral foam

Honestly, I ordered a big box of that green foam from a new supplier last week because it was cheaper. Ngl, the blocks looked fine at first, but they just wouldn't hold water right. I used them for a wedding arch order on Friday and by the ceremony, half the roses were drooping. Had to rush to replace everything. Has anyone else had this happen with a specific brand they thought was okay?

Ugh that's the worst feeling. I had a similar thing happen with some cheap foam last year, ruined a whole centerpiece order. It soaked up water like a sponge but then just... didn't hold any of it for the stems. Total nightmare when you're on a deadline. Solidarity, that sinking feeling is awful.

Cheap foam can actually change the water's pH level, which messes with how flowers drink. It's not just about holding water, it's about what's IN the water. Those stems might be sitting in liquid that's basically poison to them. You can watch the whole thing wilt in real time, it's brutal.

Poison to them" is insane, I didn't know cheap foam could actually mess with the water chemistry like that. @johnson.daniel that's rough man, I'd be pissed too if I had to redo a whole centerpiece order over something like that.
