Saw a guy using bread knives on peonies at a shop in Austin

I walked into this little flower shop on South Congress last week to grab some supplies, and the florist was hacking away at peonies with a serrated bread knife like it was no big deal. The stems were all crushed and ragged, and I nearly choked on my coffee. Anyone else ever walk into a place and just want to hand them a proper pair of shears?

Yeah a cheap pair of pruners would fix that right up.
