PSA: A local diner's order saved my Valentine's Day setup

Got slammed with 40 custom rose bouquets for pickup by 3 PM. My usual supplier was out of red filler. Panicked. Remembered the diner down the street gets fresh eucalyptus weekly for decor. Ran over, asked the manager. He sold me a whole box for $30. It was perfect, saved the color scheme. Has anyone else used non-floral businesses as a last minute supply source?

Guess we're all just one diner manager away from a floral emergency.

A floral emergency sounds a bit dramatic for a diner problem. Most places just have a backup plan or a phone number for a local supplier. It's not exactly a crisis if the centerpieces are a day late.

What kind of diner even needs flowers that bad?
