A landscaper told me to stop using so much floral foam

I was setting up for a big event in Scottsdale last week and a landscaper on site saw me cutting blocks of foam. He said, 'You know that stuff never breaks down, right? It's just tiny plastic bits in the ground forever.' I'd never really thought about where it all goes after we toss the arrangements. Now I'm trying to use more chicken wire and moss for structure. Has anyone found a good way to make big, stable pieces without it?

Never breaks down" is the whole point, that's why it works so well. You can't get that same reliable structure with chicken wire for a big professional event.

Yeah, and it's not just the ground. When that foam crumbles, it's getting into the water system too.
