Vent: I used a 3/8 inch trowel on that glue down vinyl plank in Phoenix and it was a total disaster.

The rep said it would be fine, but the adhesive oozed up through every single seam. Spent two days on my knees with a rag and mineral spirits cleaning it up. Now I'm back to my 1/4 inch for that stuff, no exceptions. Anyone have a better trowel recommendation for that specific brand of rigid core?

Man, I used to be the guy saying the bigger notch was fine, more glue is better glue. Then I did a hallway with that exact same 3/8 on a rigid core. What a mess. I had to stop every three planks and scrape lines of adhesive off the surface before I could even lock the next one in. It completely changed my process. Now I stick to the 1/4 inch square notch for that stuff, no question. It gives enough grab without the squeeze out nightmare.

Learned that lesson the hard way myself a few years back. Thought I was saving time by slapping down more glue, but all I did was create a sticky mess that slowed me down twice as much. That squeeze out gets into the locking system and just makes everything fight you. Now I keep a 1/4 inch trowel in my truck just for rigid core and tell anyone starting out to do the same. Way less cleanup, way less headache, and the bond is still solid.

That 3/8 notch is a total glue monster on rigid core, lol.
