DAE think paying extra for organic eggs is worth it or nah?
Last month I bought both kinds at the Piggly Wiggly on Grand Avenue and did a blind taste test with my roommate. The organic ones had darker yolks and richer flavor, but they cost $4.50 more per dozen. Has anyone else done a side-by-side and noticed a real difference?

Yeah I saw that part about "dark yolks and richer flavor." That's actually interesting because I had a buddy who swore by the cheap eggs from a gas station. He'd crack them open and the yolks were pale yellow, almost white. He didn't care though. Said eggs are eggs. But I bought some pastured ones once from a farmer's market and they smelled different when cooking. Like actually smelled like chicken feed or something. Not bad just different. My girlfriend said she could taste the difference in a scramble but I thought she was just being picky. I dunno man. If you got the money and you like the taste go for it.

Is it really that serious though @adam_thompson53? Sounds like your girlfriend was just trying to flex on breakfast.

Nah man I gotta say I think your girlfriend was right on this one. That pale yellow yolk thing is real and it actually means something. The cheap gas station eggs come from hens that never see sunlight and eat nothing but soy and corn meal. The dark yolk means the bird ate a more natural diet with bugs and grass and stuff which changes the fat content. I noticed it most when I make fried eggs. The pastured ones hold together better and the white sets up firmer. The cheap ones get all watery and spread out like a puddle in the pan. Not saying you gotta break the bank for eggs but there's a definite difference once you start paying attention.
