My neighbor in Austin said my kombucha SCOBY looked like a science experiment gone wrong
Honestly, I was showing her my first batch and she just said 'That looks like something you'd find in a lab, not a kitchen.' Tbh, it made me rethink the whole 'gross out' factor people have with fermentation. She's a great cook but only uses store-bought vinegar, never makes her own. Has anyone else had to defend their ferments to friends who just don't get it?

My SCOBY looks like a weird pancake, I get it. But it's just tea and sugar, man. If your neighbor's happy with store stuff, that's fine. I don't think you need to defend your jar of goo that hard, lol.
