PSA: Don't buy those cheap plastic post savers from Amazon

I put in 20 of those plastic post savers (you know, the ones that go around the base of wood posts) back in March of last year. Spent about $60 on them total, thought I was being smart protecting my work. Fast forward to last week when I go back to check on that job and every single one had cracked and split apart. The sun just ate them up, they got brittle in like 8 months. Now I gotta go back and replace them all on my own dime, plus dig out the old broken pieces from around the posts. Total loss was around $200 in materials and my time. Has anyone else had bad luck with these things or did I just get a garbage batch?

Rubber ones from a fence supply house held up way better for me. Those cheap Amazon ones are really just glorified garbage in my experience.

Honestly, it's like the whole world forgot that spending a little more upfront usually saves you a headache later.
