I finally tried a pneumatic nailer for picket work

The speed and consistency beat hand nailing by a mile, saving my wrists and time.

Just remember to buy a good air hose too

A "good air hose" is the least of your worries if your compressor can't keep up. Spending extra there is a total waste.

Disagree with @alice_grant here about the air hose being a waste. A good hose keeps pressure steady and stops drops that can ruin your work. If your hose is cheap and kinks, it does not matter how strong your compressor is. The tool needs a smooth flow of air to work right every time. I have seen jobs slowed down by bad hoses more than by weak compressors. Spending on a better hose is smart for steady results in picket work.
