TIL to peek at the milkshake machine before ordering

I got a milkshake that was mostly foam once. It was so weak, I could drink it in two sips. Now I look to see if the machine is working right before I order. Has anyone else had a drink fail like this, and what do you do to avoid it?

Yeah, I do the exact same thing now. I'll look at the machine before I even get in line. If the shake in the clear part looks thin or watery, I just skip it. Sometimes you can even hear it, a weak sputtering sound instead of a thick pull. I learned my lesson after a couple of those sad, half foam shakes.

Ugh, been there! I always ask for a sample sip if the machine looks iffy.
