Update: My old way of flipping used phones almost got me scammed last month

I used to just meet people from online ads in a parking lot, take their cash, and hand over the phone. Last month in Springfield, a guy gave me $300 in fake bills. Now I always meet inside the bank lobby and watch them get the cash from the teller. I also run the serial number through a free check site right there. It takes five more minutes but saves a huge headache. Has anyone found a better public spot for these kinds of deals?

And @rose_cooper is right about the police station lobby but honestly even that can feel awkward if an officer walks by. I tried it once and the whole vibe was tense. The bank lobby works better for me because it's normal and the teller can verify the cash on the spot. Plus they have cameras everywhere which keeps both sides honest. You ever try a busy coffee shop near a bank?
