Sold a used pressure washer on Craigslist, guy paid me in crumpled ones and nickels

Honestly, I was just trying to clear out my garage for some quick cash, so I listed my old pressure washer for $75. This dude shows up at my house at like 8pm with a grocery bag full of cash, mostly ones and a ton of loose nickels. I counted it out and he was $4 short, and he just stared at me until I gave in. Took me 20 minutes to roll all those nickels at the grocery store coinstar the next day. Has anyone else had a buyer pay in weird denominations like that and just roll with it?

Man, that brings back a memory. My buddy sold a laptop on Facebook and the guy paid him in mostly Sacagawea dollar coins and a bunch of those presidential dollars nobody uses. He said it took him forever to count them and the bank teller gave him a weird look when he dumped them all on the counter.

Used to think weird payment was no big deal, just cash is cash, you know? But then some guy paid me for a grooming table with a zip lock bag of mostly damp dollar bills and a handful of Sacagawea coins. Had to lay them all out on my kitchen counter to dry and count them. Never again. Now I tell people upfront, bills only, no coins, no exceptions.

Oh man, that's rough. I used to be pretty laid back about weird payment too, but after getting paid for a used snowblower with a mix of crumpled ones and a bunch of those gold dollars, I totally changed my tune. Had to sit there sorting them out while my hands smelled like old pocket lint for an hour. @daniel593's buddy's story sounds familiar, I bet the bank teller gave him the same side-eye I got.
