Got told my cash flips were priced too low and it stung until I did the math
Last month I sold a decent set of kitchen cabinets for $200 cash, maybe 3 hours after posting. I was feeling pretty good about it until a guy at the flea market said I left at least $150 on the table. I brushed him off at first because fast cash is fast cash right? But then I actually looked up similar sets on Marketplace and he was dead on. People were asking $350-$400 for the same stuff and getting it. So now I spend 15 minutes checking sold prices on my phone before I list anything. I still move stuff quick but I'm not leaving money behind anymore. Has anyone else had a stranger call them out on pricing?

Does that sting ever fully go away though? I had a guy at a garage sale tell me my old coffee table was worth triple what I was asking and I just stood there feeling stupid while he walked away. Now I check sold prices too but sometimes I catch myself wondering if the extra time spent researching is actually worth the money I'm making. Like last week I spent 20 minutes pricing a lamp and sold it for $10 more than I would have guessed, so that's like $30 an hour for my research time I guess.

Funny how knowing the numbers changes everything in life.

Kelly, you nailed it. Numbers just put everything into sharp focus, don't they? Like tracking calories made me realize I was eating way more than I thought. The weight started dropping once I actually paid attention to the math.
