Appreciation post for the old 'cash for gold' spot on 5th Street

Cleared out a drawer of old class rings and broken chains last Tuesday, and the guy gave me $475 on the spot, no waiting for a check. Anyone know a good place to move vintage watches that fast?

That 5th Street place has been there for 20 years at least. It makes you realize how many of these little cash spots are holding up whole neighborhoods. There's the same kind of family-run place that fixes shoes next to the pawn shop, and the diner that only takes cash. They all work on immediate trust and handshake deals, no apps or waiting for transfers. It's a whole economy that runs parallel to the digital one, and it's just as real.

That 5th Street spot was a lifesaver when I needed quick cash for a car repair last year. For watches, try the little shop on Maple Avenue, the one with the green awning. The owner, Leo, buys vintage pieces outright if they're in decent shape. He gave me a fair price for a 70s Seiko I never wore. Just make sure you know the model number and have any original box or papers, it helps a lot.
