Warning: I thought 'more detail' always meant a better design until my professor in Milan said my final project looked like a costume.

He pointed at my jacket covered in 17 different fabrics and trims and asked, 'What is the single idea here?', which made me scrap the whole thing and start over with just one strong fabric and a clean shape. Has anyone else had a teacher or client completely reset their approach like that?
