Serious question, has anyone else had a fabric dye bleed ruin a whole batch?

I was working on a small run of linen blend shirts in a custom olive green. I pre-washed the fabric like always, but the dye still bled into the white contrast stitching after the first wash. I spent the next two full days trying to fix it with color remover and re-dyeing, which just made the color patchy. In the end, I had to scrap all 12 pieces and start over completely. What's the best way you've found to really lock in dye on natural blends?

Pre-wash doesn't set dye" hits the nail on the head.

Pre-wash doesn't set dye, you need a dye fixative.

Right? Dylan's spot on. I lost a whole set of napkins the same way before I started using fixative.
