Ripped my prototype dress seam 3 times in one afternoon

Last Thursday I was sewing a silk chiffon wrap dress and the armhole seam just kept pulling apart no matter how I reinforced it. Has anyone else had trouble with lightweight fabrics and what stitch length worked for you?

I used a 1.8mm stitch length for my silk charmeuse blouse and that solved it for me. Also switched to a microtex needle which helped a ton with the fabric slipping.

1.8 is short for a silk chiffon, you might try going up to 2.2.

Oh man, that's so frustrating! A buddy of mine had the exact same issue with a silk gown she was making for a wedding, and she switched to a 2.0 stitch length and a new needle and it finally held. Have you tried a walking foot at all?
