Question about using that 'memory foam' fabric for a structured blazer

I bought three yards of a thick 'memory foam' knit fabric online to try and make a blazer with a soft, padded look. It cost me about $85 total, which felt like a good deal at the time. The fabric was impossible to get a clean edge on, and the jacket I tried to make just slumped and lost all shape in about an hour of wear. Has anyone else tried working with a fabric that just would not behave for a tailored piece?

Saw a whole thread about that material, @adam_lewis. People were saying it pills like crazy after one wash. Totally not worth the hassle.
