PSA: A client in Seattle told me my design for a reflective jacket was 'pointless'
I was showing a mock-up for a cycling jacket with integrated reflective strips that only show up under headlights, and she said it was a waste of fabric because 'people just wear lights anyway.' That stuck with me because safety shouldn't be an either/or choice, you know? Has anyone else had a client dismiss a functional feature as just a fashion gimmick?

Clients often miss how layered safety features work together. A jacket with hidden reflectors is a backup plan for when a light fails or gets forgotten. Dismissing that as a gimmick shows a real lack of imagination about how accidents actually happen.

That "waste of fabric" comment is rough. I had a client call hidden pockets in a work bag a useless trend, even after I explained how it helps prevent pickpocketing. Some people just see the extra stitch and not the point.
