I tried designing with cheap polyester versus deadstock silk for a jacket lining and the difference is insane.

The silk from that little shop in Portland breathes so much better and drapes right, while the poly just felt clammy and stiff after one wear. Has anyone found a good source for small-yardage natural fiber linings that won't break the bank?

Try thrifting silk scarves for lining pieces.

Yeah, I've had great luck cutting up old silk shirts from the thrift store too.

Found a whole bag of silk ties once for a dollar... made the wildest quilt lining from them. The weight was perfect, not too heavy but still had that nice slip. Mixing different patterns gave it a cool, scrappy look without trying too hard. Honestly, sometimes the weirdest finds end up being the best material.
