Finally figured out my fabric sourcing after a year of guesswork

I used to just buy whatever looked good online and hope for the best, which led to a lot of wasted money on cheap polyesters. After a bad batch of chiffon from a random site, I switched to ordering swatches first from a supplier in LA. Has anyone else found a good method for testing fabric quality without breaking the bank?

Man that year of guesswork sounds rough, I've been there with the cheap polyester letdowns lol. Getting swatches first was a total game changer for me too, even if it feels slow. I kinda get what @holly420 means about the small cuts though, sometimes you just need to feel a bigger piece. But honestly, for me, the swatch cost is way less than getting stuck with a few yards of bad fabric.

Swatches are a good start but honestly feel like a waste of time and shipping money. I just go straight for the smallest cut they'll sell me.

Swatches are the only smart way to do it.
