Came across a wild stat about fabric waste in the fashion industry

I was reading an article from the Ellen MacArthur Foundation last night and it said the fashion industry produces 92 million tons of textile waste every year. That number blew my mind because I never thought about how much fabric ends up in landfills from just sample runs and overproduction. Has anyone here tried designing with zero-waste patterns or deadstock fabric to cut down on that?

Used to think the waste was just a small problem, but that 92 million tons number really changed my mind. It makes you realize how much fabric gets thrown away just from leftover rolls and rejected samples before anyone even buys a shirt. Been trying to use deadstock fabric more lately and it feels like a small step that actually helps.

Started digging through my local thrift store's fabric bins last month and found some deadstock denim from the 90s. That stuff holds up way better than anything I've bought new lately. @ruby_rivera76 you're right that it's a small step but every bit helps cut down on what gets tossed.
