Hot take: I used to skip recycled horseshoes
Now I see they trim metal waste without losing grip.

Glad someone said it! I was in the same boat for years. My farrier switched to recycled shoes last season, and the difference is huge. They shape them so well now that my horse's traction on wet trails is way better, and we're not throwing out as much scrap metal. Quinn_palmer is right, it took me a while to get on board, but now I'm sold. Even after a few months, there's not much wear compared to old ones I used. Wish I had made the switch sooner.
