Finally got a clean nail clinch on a draft hoof after struggling for 6 months

I tried angling my clinching block way steeper and it worked on the first try yesterday on a big Percheron, has anyone else found that adjusting the block angle makes a bigger difference than the hammer blow?

Angle changes everything with the big draft horses.

Whoa, six months for a nail clinch? I mean congrats on getting it but that seems like a lot of drama over a hoof trim!

@lily_singh2 I gotta say I agree with you there. Six months feels like a lifetime just to get a simple nail clinch sorted out. Usually those are something a farrier fixes in like ten minutes during a regular trim if they catch it early. But if the owner was really nervous or the horse was being a handful, I can see things dragging out. Ever had something with your own horses take way longer than it should have just because of scheduling or nerves?
