That time I had to choose between a gas dryer and electric in my new place
I moved into an apartment in Phoenix back in March and had to pick between gas or electric hookups for my laundry. My landlord said gas is cheaper here by like $15 a month on average, but the hookup fee was $200 upfront. I went with electric since I was broke from the move, and honestly my clothes dry fine but they come out way hotter than my mom's gas dryer at her house. Has anyone else noticed that difference between the two?

...and honestly I went electric too back when I moved into my place in Tucson. The gas hookup fee was just too much at the time and I was living paycheck to paycheck. But yeah I definitely noticed my clothes coming out way hotter with electric, sometimes I have to let them cool down before I even fold them. My buddy has gas and his stuff comes out barely warm. I don't regret my choice though, the electric has been reliable for like three years now and I haven't had any issues with it.

So does the heat from the electric dryer end up making your clothes wear out faster? I've always wondered about that because my mom had an electric dryer years ago and she swore it shrank everything way more than the gas one she switched to. I'm just curious if you've noticed any difference in fabric wear or shrinkage over three years, or if it's more of a minor thing you don't really think about. Also, do you ever run your dryer on a lower heat setting to avoid the cool-down wait, or does it not dry as well that way?

HOLD UP @finleyf88 said THREE YEARS with no issues? That's wild, I thought electric dryers died after like a year.
