I just realized the '8 glasses of water a day' thing is a myth after tracking my intake for a week.

I logged everything I drank and ate for 7 days and found I only needed about 5 glasses of plain water because I get so much from food and other drinks, so has anyone else checked this for themselves?

Totally! I did the same thing last month and was shocked. My coffee and the fruit I eat basically cover half of it for me. That old rule really needs to die.

I get what you mean about tracking intake, but my experience was the opposite. When I tried that, I felt way better hitting the full eight glasses because my workouts and coffee left me actually thirsty. Olivia_harris19, coffee can dehydrate you a bit, so I count it against my total. For me, aiming for eight is a good reminder to drink more than I naturally would.

Tracking my own intake was a real eye opener for me too. I used to force down water trying to hit that number and just felt bloated all the time. Now I just drink when I'm thirsty and my pee looks fine, so it works. Maybe it's just me but following a strict rule made it way harder than it needed to be.
