I finally proved the '5 second rule' wrong in the grossest way

Dropped a piece of toast on my kitchen floor in Portland last Tuesday and grabbed it in under 3 seconds, but it still had a cat hair and some dust stuck to the butter side. Has anyone else had this backfire and still eaten it anyway?

Wait, did you actually eat it anyway? Because I gotta say, I've been there and done that way more times than I care to admit. I mean, it's toast, it's buttered, and three seconds is basically nothing, right? But that cat hair and dust combo is a real bummer. I once picked a chip off the floor and ate it, then found a piece of dog kibble stuck to it. Idk why we convince ourselves those few seconds make any difference. Maybe it's just me but I think the real lesson is that floors are always grosser than we want to believe.

Oh man, I've totally been there too... that's just way too relatable.
