Appreciation post: My grandma always said putting a wooden spoon over a boiling pot stops it from bubbling over, and after my pasta water disaster last night, I gave it a shot.

I was making spaghetti for the kids and the pot was about to boil over again, so I grabbed a wooden spoon, laid it across the top, and the foam just... went down, which saved me from cleaning my stovetop for the third time this month.

Wait, you had to clean your stovetop three times this month already? Ngl, that's a whole other problem. I'd be losing my mind over that much mess.

Does that bubble-breaking science work with a metal spoon too?

That wooden spoon trick is a lifesaver, I swear! I learned it the hard way after a few messy pasta nights myself. The science is that the wood breaks the surface tension of the bubbles. I keep a dedicated spoon just for this, it's always on my stove. It feels like magic every single time it works.
