Went to the old Everett library branch yesterday, felt like stepping back in time

Stopped by the Evergreen Branch on 41st. Not the new one, the old one that's still standing. The shelves are shorter now, packed tighter. Kids were reading on the floor like I used to. Same creaky floorboards by the reference desk. Anyone else remember when they had that big globe in the corner?

I used to think the old Everett library was just outdated and needed to be replaced with something modern. But after going back last week and seeing kids sprawled out on those same worn floorboards near the reference desk, it clicked for me. The way the light comes through those tall windows in the afternoon makes the whole place feel warm and alive. That big globe they had in the corner was my favorite spot as a kid too, and seeing it gone made me realize something important got lost when they moved everything to the new building.

I actually heard someone say the new building has bad acoustics... the kids can't hear storytime the same way.
