Walked into the new coffee shop on 41st and noticed the barista had no idea how to steam oat milk properly
She burned it twice in a row and then just poured it in the cup anyway, has anyone else had bad service at a spot that just opened up?

Honestly, oat milk is tricky because it separates if you heat it too fast. I had the same problem at a new shop by my gym last month. The barista was nice but just didn't know the trick. You gotta steam it slower and keep the wand just below the surface to get that microfoam right. If they're rushing through orders on opening week, that's probably why the milk is getting scorched. I'd try them again in a couple weeks when they settle in, or just ask for your drink with regular milk or almond instead.

Figure out if it's worth going back though, right? Like if they're already messing up simple stuff on opening week, what else are they gonna get wrong? I'm not trying to be a coffee snob or anything, but oat milk is basically a standard order now at every shop. Did the barista at least offer to remake it or just act all nice while handing you a burnt drink?
