Honestly, "last July" is a bit tricky since July just ended, so you probably meant "this past July" or "last month" to make it clearer. Tbh, I had to read it twice to figure out if you were talking about 2023 or 2024, you know? Ngl, small wording stuff like that always throws me off when I'm trying to follow the timeline.

Ah man, I totally get what you're saying but also I think people overthink this stuff too much. Like, if it's August and someone says "last July" it's pretty obvious they mean July 2023 not 2024 because this July just literally ended like a few days ago. We're not robots, we don't need perfectly precise dates for casual conversation. But I also see how it could get confusing if someone is telling a story from way back or something.
