TIL that my "private" browsing history was still visible to my ISP this whole time

I was showing my roommate how to clear cookies on Chrome, and he asked what about the stuff the internet company still sees. I brushed it off at first, but then I actually looked into it. Turns out incognito mode just hides your stuff from other people on your computer, not your provider. I was basically handing over every site I visit to Comcast for years without realizing it. Who else just found this out the hard way?

Bro everyone knew this already though. incognito just hides your history from nosy roommates, not your ISP lmao. thats like basic internet 101 stuff.

Three years ago I actually thought incognito made me totally invisible online. My cousin who works in IT set me straight when he saw me using it for "private stuff" and just laughed. Said it's like putting a napkin over your face and thinking nobody can see you. That conversation basically ruined my whole understanding of privacy on the internet. Now whenever someone mentions incognito I just nod and remember how dumb I used to be.
