Remember when you could just buy a phone and own it?
I paid about $400 for a new smartphone two years ago. It worked fine, but the company pushed an update that made the battery drain super fast. They basically forced me to think about getting a new one. It feels wrong that a company can change something you paid for like that. What do you do when a company uses software to make your stuff worse?

Wasn't that just planned obsolescence, or am I wrong now?

Ugh, that's the worst. My buddy had this older tablet that was perfect for reading, then an update made it so slow it was unusable. He tried everything to roll it back but they'd locked it down. It just sat in a drawer after that, which feels like such a waste. Makes you not want to update anything, but then you get those security warning pop-ups all the time. They really have you stuck either way.
