Question about a 'right to be forgotten' request that took months

I asked a data broker to delete my info back in March. They said it would be done in 30 days. It's July now, and I'm still getting mail from companies that bought my old data. I had to file a complaint with my state's attorney general to get any real movement. Has anyone else had to fight this hard just to be removed from a list?

That part about treating it like a work project is dead on. It's the only way they listen. I had a similar mess with a gym membership that kept billing me. I made a log of every call, saved every email, and finally mailed it all certified to their corporate office. Got a refund and an apology two days later. They bank on you not keeping track.

It's like they hope you'll just give up. You have to treat it like a project at work, tracking every email and call. I kept a folder with dates and what was said. When I finally sent that to the AG's office, they acted within a week. The delay feels totally on purpose.
