A week of bad deliveries changed how I see those 'smart' doorbells

Last month, my street had a string of missed packages, and everyone blamed the delivery drivers. Then my neighbor showed me the footage from his fancy doorbell camera. It wasn't the drivers at all. The AI that blurs faces and license plates for privacy was malfunctioning, making the video a useless, smeared mess that couldn't prove anything. I used to think these things were just for security, but now I see the privacy tech can break in a way that hurts everyone. Has anyone else had a tech feature meant to protect actually cause more problems?

Heard about a friend whose car got keyed. His dashcam had auto-delete to save space and wiped the footage before he could check it. Felt pretty useless after that.

Auto-delete is the only thing that makes sense. Who's got time to sort through hours of boring driving? If it saved the clip, it'd just fill up and stop working anyway.

Tell you what, my dashcam's auto-delete is way too good at its job. It wiped the only interesting clip I ever got, which was me yelling at a squirrel that ran in front of my car. Forgot to save it and lost my proof of being a crazy person. Now I just have hours of me singing off-key to the radio.
