My old mentor told me to never cold call a Fortune 500 company.
Honestly, he said to only use referrals and warm intros, so I avoided it for years. But last quarter, I got desperate and cold emailed the CMO at a big firm in Boston directly with a very specific case study. Ngl, we booked a meeting that turned into a $120k pilot project. Has anyone else found cold outreach actually works now for enterprise deals, or did I just get lucky?

My old mentor would be so mad at me right now.

My mentor drilled the 3-paragraph intro into me for years. I just sent a pitch that was basically a subject line and a link to a case study. He'd probably make me write "I will not ignore the process" on a whiteboard a hundred times.

So what exactly did you say in that email to make it work? I mean, your mentor's advice is usually solid, but maybe the trick is having that super specific case study ready to go. I'm wondering if the old rules are changing because everyone is so flooded with generic sales pitches now.
