Hit 500,000 email opens in one campaign and almost fell out of my chair
I was checking the dashboard for our Q3 nurture sequence in the middle of a Tuesday, not expecting much since it was a sleepy list we'd been sending to for months. Turns out someone reshared the link on LinkedIn and it blew up, ended the day at 502,349 unique opens from a list of 600,000. I mean, that's like an 83% open rate which sounds fake even typing it out, but our analytics vendor confirmed it wasn't a bot spike. Has anyone else had a random campaign just go supernova for no obvious reason?

That "sleepy list" comment gave me flashbacks to my friend who had a similar random spike from a Facebook share.

I mean what exactly happened with the share? Did it just randomly take off or was there something specific about it that got people engaging?

Oh man I gotta disagree a little here. I think there was something specific going on with that share. It wasn't random at all. That "sleepy list" phrase caught peoples' attention because it's funny and relatable, like a little inside joke that made people want to click. Plus the timing was perfect, it hit right when everyone was doomscrolling late at night so it felt personal. I've seen other posts blow up the same way, it's never just luck.
