That $250 safety harness I bought is collecting dust in my truck
Everyone keeps saying you HAVE to buy the fancy fall arrest harness with the built in shock absorber, but I've been using the same basic $60 one for 5 years on residential jobs and never had an issue. The expensive one is just a pain to put on and take off when you're moving between 10 stops a day. Anybody else think some of this safety gear is overhyped?

Fell off a ladder once and my $60 harness just laughed at me while my wallet cried, so I get the frustration.

Was it actually rated for falls, or did you buy some cheap knockoff brand?
