Picked hydraulic over cable for a high-rise retrofit last month
The cable bid was $2,000 less but I went hydraulic because the building manager said noise was a big issue for the tenants. Worked out fine so far, but the extra maintenance log paperwork is a pain has anyone else run into that with hydros?

$2,000 less for cable? Man that's a pretty big gap. I'm surprised you didn't at least try to get them to split the difference on the hydros (like a credit or something). The noise thing makes total sense though - cable jacks are super loud in residential buildings, especially at night when people are sleeping. That paperwork is a beast though, I swear the log sheets for hydros are designed by someone who never actually had to fill one out in the field.
