Overheard a building manager in Chicago say 'elevators are just dumb boxes'
He was complaining about a service call cost, not getting that the safety systems and code compliance are what make it safe. It's frustrating when people don't see the skill involved. Ever have a client who just doesn't get what we actually do?

Ugh, tell me about it. I once had someone call my work "just turning some screws," like the years of training were for fun. People only notice this job when something breaks.
