Old hydraulic elevators vs modern MRLs - night and day difference on this MOD I just finished

Honestly, I spent the last 3 days gutting a 1975 Otis hydraulic in a 6-story office building downtown. That old tank and jack setup took up a whole mechanical room the size of a small apartment. We ripped it out, put in a new MRL machine. Night and day. The building manager couldn't believe we freed up that much floor space for storage. Has anyone else noticed how much quieter the new stuff is too? That old pump used to sound like a truck idling.

Man, that truck idling comparison is spot on (I used to think the same thing about the old one in my building). Freeing up that mechanical room for storage is a huge win, especially in an older building where every square foot counts. Really glad to hear you got that upgrade done and it's working out so well.

Actually the old boiler in my building was massive, took up half the basement. Did you ever have to deal with the noise from those old units? Ours sounded like a truck revving up every time it kicked on at 4am, drove me crazy for years. But that storage space you got back, what are you planning to put in there? I'm trying to decide between shelving for extra supplies or maybe a small workshop area for building maintenance stuff.
